Each lane crossed is a decision point: move forward and pick up chips lying on the road, with each chip pushing the running multiplier higher, or cash out and take the current total before the next car arrives. The step-by-step structure is the genre's fundamental tension, and Chicken Rush 2 layers the Rush mechanic on top of it — periodically the chicken dashes forward across multiple lanes in a single move, collecting chips from each one simultaneously rather than advancing one lane at a time.
