Hacksaw Gaming takes the Multiplier Duel concept from Johnny vs Chicken and redesigns it for a darker, higher-stakes setting in Buried by Night, a 5x4 paylines slot where VS symbols expand horizontally across an entire row rather than a single reel column. Each DuelRow that forms runs its own multiplier duel and applies the winner to all associated wins — and when multiple DuelRows are part of the same winning combination, their multipliers combine. At a 15,000x max win and high volatility of 4 out of 5, the horizontal expansion and multi-row multiplier stacking gives this mechanic a meaningfully different ceiling dynamic to the original VS duel format.

Core Gameplay

Buried by Night runs on a 5x4 paylines grid set against a tense desert dusk backdrop. The central mechanic is the DuelRow — triggered when a VS symbol lands as part of a winning combination. Rather than expanding vertically down a single reel as in previous VS implementations, the DuelRow expands horizontally across the entire row the VS symbol occupies, converting that row into a duel arena. Each DuelRow runs its own multiplier contest, with two values randomly assigned and a winner determined, applying the winning multiplier to all wins associated with that row. On a 5x4 grid, up to four rows can theoretically carry DuelRows simultaneously — and when multiple DuelRows contribute to the same winning combination their multipliers combine into a single applied total rather than each resolving independently. The combination of horizontal expansion across a four-row grid and multi-DuelRow multiplier stacking gives the mechanic a wider coverage footprint than a vertical reel expansion would allow.

Bonus Features

Two trigger happy bonus games are confirmed alongside the Hidden Epic Bonus™. Whether DuelRows operate with enhanced multiplier ceilings, guaranteed VS symbol frequency, or multiple simultaneous row activations inside the bonus rounds will be confirmed at launch.

Feature Access & Buy Options

Bonus buy availability has not been confirmed at this stage. Given Hacksaw Gaming's standard release format, direct bonus access and an ante-bet option are likely inclusions, but nothing has been officially announced for Buried by Night.
